Artist Statement

While I am drawn to functional art, I always try to incorporate a taste of the unusual and unnecessary to give it a personal flavor. Although I claim no native American blood, I am consistently touched by their artistic representations of nature.

Southwestern Inspiration

Foremost amongst my southwestern inspirations are native American designs that decorate many of my surfaces. The symmetry of the “man in the maze” defines the universal search for the essence of our being as well as my personal journey to this rich culture. The “Zia Sun Symbol” celebrates the 300 days of Tucson sunshine, as well as my own birthday on the summer solstice. “The Circle of Friends” celebrates those who warmly greeted my arrival as well as those who currently sustain my chosen home.
